National Winter Trails Day at Lake Maria State Park
On January 8, 2011 was National Winter Trails Day and Minnesota State Parks and Trails were encouraging everyone to get out into one of the parks to try out snowshoing, skiing, and other winter activites. I had a piano competition that morning in Fargo, ND and had to be in Minneapolis, MN later that night to meet up with my high school choir so my family and I stopped at Lake Maria State Park for a short snowshoe hike. I thoroughly enjoy each stop at Lake Maria because the beauty of this "big woods" forest is evident all around. And of course, it offers a quiet atmosphere to just enjoy the day!
