1-6-2011 Helping a Girl Scout Troop earn their Riverwalk Junior Ranger badges!

I recently earned my Girl Scout Gold Award and for my project, I created a Junior Ranger program for our community's River Walk trail system.  The River Walk is a 7.3 mile trail connecting several city parks and along the trail, are located 14 pictographs telling the story of Thief River Falls along the river.  Thief River Falls is located at the falls, or intersection, of the Red Lake and Thief rivers.  To earn the badge, participants must pick up a Junior Ranger booklet at any hotel in Thief River Falls and hike the River Walk.  They must complete several activities in the booklet, as designated by age, and return it to a Thief River Falls hotel for presentation of the badge.  Or, I can administer the badge.  These girl scouts had previously hiked the River Walk and we worked together to complete the booklets and, Congratulations!  They are all now River Walk Junior Rangers!  Thank you to the City of Thief River Falls and Convention and Visitor's Bureau for funding this program!
